FEI Tribunal Decision: G C CAL CORDILLERA A G – No Significant Fault Recognized
On July 31, 2025, the FEI Tribunal issued a decision in case C25-0020, concerning the endurance horse G C CAL CORDILLERA A G, who competed in a CEI1* 100 km event in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia, in November 2024.
Substances Detected: Dexamethasone and Triamcinolone Acetonide
Post-race testing revealed the presence of two controlled medications: Dexamethasone and Triamcinolone Acetonide, commonly used to treat musculoskeletal pain and inflammation.
Veterinary Treatment and Responsible Use
The horse had been treated for back pain under veterinary supervision. The trainer, Hassan Khamis Mohammed A AL SHAHWANI, followed medical advice and consulted the FEI Clean Sport app to respect withdrawal times. Despite these precautions, traces of the substances remained at the time of competition.
No Significant Fault
The FEI acknowledged that the trainer did not intend to gain an unfair advantage and had taken reasonable steps to comply with anti-doping rules. The Tribunal concluded that there was no significant fault, under Article 2.1 of the Equine Controlled Medication Rules (ECMR).
